Problem

Sprout wanted children to learn saving and parents to feel in control, and the first version managed neither: kids found it boring and parents found it opaque.

Approach

Two products in one app, tested with fourteen families at their kitchen tables. The child's side is a plant that grows with the balance, chores with visible rewards, and a jar for a goal. The parent's side is approvals, an allowance schedule and a dashboard on the web. The same type and components serve both, at two very different energies.

Outcome

Weekly active children rose 48% after launch, and the parent approval flow averages under a minute.
