Problem

Waypoint had the best routing data in the category and a map screen nobody could read on a handlebar mount. Riders stopped to check the phone, which is the one thing a navigation app must never make you do.

Approach

I rode with the app for two weeks before touching it. The navigation screen was rebuilt around one turn card and one number, with everything else a swipe away. The planner got a real elevation profile, because that is the question a cyclist asks first. Type sizes were set outdoors, not on a monitor.

Outcome

The rebuilt app holds a 4.8 rating on the App Store, up from 3.9, and "can't read it while riding" left the reviews.
